Growing up, I thought I already knew who and what will I become in life. It was easier to dream when I was young without knowing the bumps I will encounter. For a child’s heart, dreaming is free and fun, but achieving it takes more than every thought in your mind, heart, and soul. And what makes it more difficult later is not exactly knowing what to do in life — our purpose of existence.
“I am lost”, Yes! my heart hears you. This is what I have always heard from myself too now and then. I thought at this age, I should have figured out what I want to be in life. However, I was wrong for forcing myself to be found when life wanted me to be lost in the process for a while. Because I realized it is when we are lost, we are greatly found.
I am the kind of person who always complains most of the time. May it be in career, personal, love, and professional matters. I asked myself, “How about if we stop complaining and start appreciating what supposedly life is to us?”. Life is a roller coaster ride, thrills and fears are inevitable but we continue to ride because we are up to achieving something great, not just for ourselves but for everyone we love.
We feel lost because our heart chooses not to understand where we are right now. So, when I do not understand the circumstance, I tried to write down all the beautiful things that happen to me instead. I am sure there is something in your mind right now. While we are lost in the road, we figure out things and unfold more the beauty of life along the way — the beauty of forgiving, acceptance, and the beauty of being lost for a while. It is the perfect time to know more about you — the truer you, who you are and what you want to do in life. I am sure there is so much in store for us.
Every day, we grow and glow when we glorify what God has given us. When we appreciate the rocks on the road as we are approaching nearer and nearer to our destination of finding ourselves.
We feel lost because we are so focused on ourselves. We look straight forward without taking glances on every side of the road. In every sunsets and sunrise, there is the beauty we fail to recognize.
It is okay to feel lost because this makes us human. But this is a reminder to me and you, my dearest friend, “No matter what, God is redirecting us to the right path”. It may be hard and vague to know as early as now because we already draw what our life should be since we were a child. But how about if we let God use His pencil to draw and author our own story. Like you, I feel lost all the time but I realize my day to day journey of feeling lost, leads me closer and nearer to the path God wants me to be – wonderful and surprisingly happier than the childhood thoughts I once instilled for myself.
I am not saying that we should give up on our childhood dreams because I am definitely not. How about if we adjust our focus for us to have a clearer view of the sides — the opportunities and blessings in life. Sometimes, things in life do not go on our way because it will always be God’s plan for us. But I am sure we will be merrier with all these.
Surely, our existence has its purpose far beyond what we can imagine but life itself is a maze to marvel for us to know more about ourselves.
I am lost but I know I will be found through His loving arms.
